OSU vs Iowa

This was a game of ups and downs and the game that could save Iowa's season. For Ohio State a victory would give them an opportunity to win the Big Ten. Iowa scored early with a big play to Marvin McNutt. They would trade punts for plenty of the 1st half. They went into the halftime with a 7-3 for Iowa.
Midway through the 3rd Pryor connected with Reid Fragel for a 5 yard touchdown pass. Iowa would add a FG in the 3rd resulting in a 10-10 tie going into the 4th. The 4th quarter was the most impactful and Iowa scored in it early after an interception of Terrelle Pryor that was capped off with a 1 yard touchdown run by Marcus Coker.
With the score at 17-10 and OSU needing to respond the offense was flat but still managed to put a FG on the board to make the score 17-13. After a punt by Iowa, Ohio State was in need of a score and would put the ball in the hands of their QB. The play of the game was done by DeVier Posey on a 50 yard pass that would have resulted in 6 but was dropped. The reason this was the play of game has to do with clock management. With that drop Ohio State was able to drain the clock down as well as force Iowa to use their timeouts. Pryor was responsible for 50 yards of offense and the reason the Buckeyes were able to score the go ahead touchdown after a 24 yard strike to Sanzenbacher to put the ball on the one. Boom Heron punched it in to get the lead. Iowa’s got the ball back with just over a minute remaining. The Hawkeyes were looking at 3rd and long and Cameron Heyward sacked Rickey Stanzi to force a 4th and 21 and Iowa wouldn't convert. With a Buckeye victory they moved to 10-1 and Iowa moved to 7-4.

Wisconsin 48 Michigan 28

First and foremost congratulations to The University of Wisconsin Badgers. The Badges dominated the Wolverines from start to finish. The Badger ran for 357 yards on 58 carries. The MaizedWolverine player of the game goes to the Offensive Line. Not only did the Badger run efficiently they also pass protected tremendously. The Badger QB Scott Tolzien was 14-15 for 201 passing yards, a lot of which were setup by the run fake.
The Badgers got out early and never looked back. They continuously shut down the Michigan run game and in passing dropped passes hurt the ability to move the chains. This combined with the Badgers having the ball for 21 minutes in the first half. Once the first two quarters were done the scoring was only done by one offense, and it was not the home team. With touchdown runs of 1 Yard TD run by Montee Ball the Badgers got up 7-0. The next score was also done by the Badgers with a 25 yard Field Goal. Once again Montee Ball would find the endzone this time from 27 yards out, giving the Badgers a 17-0 lead. After a Michigan punt 3 plays later another RB would get into the scoring on a 61 yard TD run in which he was not touched by a Michigan defender. That score would put the Badgers up 24-0 and could have been more without an interception by James Rodgers. The only drive for Michigan that was of substance resulted in another missed Field Goal. The first half highlights for Michigan consisted of the band at half time.
With the 1st half over the Wolverines would receive the kick and need a score to give themselves a chance. That would happen via Denard to Stonum for a 24 yard hookup for a score. The ensuing drive by Wisconsin ended in a fumble and the next play Michigan went deep for a 34 yard hookup Denard to Stonum and was cashed in by Denard on a 4 yard TD run. With the score at 24-14 the Michigan defense was in dire need of a stop and James White would not oblige. He capped of a Badger TD with a 23 yard run. The ten point game is the closest the Michigan come back would get.
This game was dominated from start to finish by the Badgers. With this victory they improve to 10-1 and an inside track to the Rose Bowl. Some stats that have been accumulated by individuals that stand out are Denard Robinson who broke the individual record for rushing yard for a QB. He is currently over 1,500 rushing yards. Any yards accumulated against OSU and in a bowl game will add to that total. As for Wisconsin they are attempting to average 40+ points per game in Big Ten play. They also have the only backfield in the country with 3 RB’s with over 500 rushing yards each. All should finish north of 700.  The play of the game was done by Defensive Tackle J.J. Watt when he deflected a pass into the air and intercepted the pass and returned it for 15 yards.
As for the rest of the season Michigan has “The Game” next week. If they hope to win they need a better effort from the offense for 4 Quarters. If they come out flat next week Ohio State can and will get up early and will not look back. As for the defense they must get off blocks and makes tackle on Pryor as well as Herron. Well with one week left in Big Ten play Michigan has a 7-4 record with the chance to finish strong and build a win towards a quality recruiting period and developing as a team.

Late Breaking News

Michigan's defense was just provided with a huge boost. The Badgers starting RB John Clay is out for tomorrow. That will take away some of the threat of inside running. This eliminated 1/3 of the 3 headed monsters. For more updates keep checking in.

Welcome

Welcome to the MaizedWolverine.

Every Sunday at noon you can find your new home for college football. I will be doing a game recap of the Michigan Football game from the prior Saturday. Following games here you can find and in-depth analysis of the both the game as well a preview of next week. During non game weeks you will find recruiting details. Every week I will do a poll of games of the week. Whichever game is chosen by you the fan will also receive a brief game recap as well as a look ahead to next week’s big games.
This week’s matchup brings in a 9-1 University of Wisconsin Badgers to Michigan Stadium. The Badgers last week put up a staggering 83 points. Those 83 points is the most scored by any team in the country this season. The key for the Badgers is the running game. If Michigan can find a defensive scheme to  slow down the three-headed backfield of Clay, White & Ball they have a chance to win. With that said the front seven will be forced to find fronts to put pressure on Tolzien. The receivers the Badgers have may be unknown to some but Nick Toon has speed for days while the complimentary receivers can make plays due to the run fakes.
The Wolverines who come in at 7-3 have the 9th best rush offense in the country. The play of Quarterback Denard Robinson will be key. The stat most likely to dictate the winner is turnovers. If the Michigan Wolverines can eliminate unforced errors such as penalties and turnovers they will compete with Wisconsin. On the defensive end they have been playing better the last two weeks. The opposing offenses have struggled on 3rd down going 8-33 the last two Big Ten games while forcing six turnovers.
The unknown for this game is how Michigan will play for their coach. Its known to many that Rich Rodriguez's job may be on the line without victories the next two weeks. It will be obvious from the beginning if this group of players will play for this coach or will be looking for the next man to walk through those doors.
